Meta Lab: Meta tag and Open Graph generator

NewWrite SEO and Open Graph tags, preview them as Google, X, and Facebook would show them, and copy the markup.

0/60
0/155

1200 × 630 px works on every platform. Use an absolute URL — relative paths are ignored by crawlers.

<!-- Open Graph -->
<meta property="og:type" content="website" />
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" />

<!-- Twitter -->
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" />

Write the tags once, see all three surfaces

Search snippets and social cards use overlapping but different tags. This Lab writes them together and shows what each one produces before you deploy.

Length guidance

Live counters flag a title over 60 characters or a description over 155, the points where search results usually truncate.

Google preview

See the title, the breadcrumb path, and the description trimmed the way a search result trims them.

Social cards

Large-image and summary cards for X, plus the Facebook and LinkedIn layout, all driven by your Open Graph values.

Complete tag set

Title, description, keywords, author, canonical, robots, Open Graph, and Twitter tags in one block.

Next.js export

The same values as a typed Metadata export, ready to paste into an App Router page or layout.

Escaped output

Quotes and angle brackets in your copy are escaped, so pasted markup cannot break the surrounding HTML.

Questions about meta tags

How long should a title tag be?

Around 50 to 60 characters. Google measures pixel width rather than characters, so a title full of wide letters can be cut earlier. Put the important words first so the meaning survives truncation.

Is Meta Lab free, and does it work offline?

Yes. Meta Lab is free, with no account, no sign-up, and no usage limit. It runs entirely in your browser, so once you have opened the page while online, it keeps working without a connection.

Do meta keywords still matter?

Google has ignored the keywords tag for years. It is included here because some internal search tools and smaller engines still read it, but it will not improve your Google ranking.

Why is my social card still showing the old image?

Platforms cache Open Graph data. After you deploy new tags, re-scrape the URL in the platform's own debugger — X Card Validator, Facebook Sharing Debugger, or LinkedIn Post Inspector — to refresh the card.

What size should the preview image be?

1200 × 630 px, at a 1.91:1 ratio, works across Google, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Keep it under about 5 MB and use an absolute HTTPS URL.

Does a meta description affect ranking?

Not directly. It affects how many people click your result, which is why it is worth writing well. Google also rewrites descriptions when it thinks another snippet matches the query better.

When should I add noindex?

For staging environments, thank-you pages, internal search results, and thin duplicate pages. Never on a page you want traffic to — and remember noindex on a canonical target hides the whole cluster.
